The start of 2023 saw a new aescalation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict triggered by a provocative visit by the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem accompanied by Israeli security forces on January 3. This visit to the Al-Aqsa mosque complex occurred less than a week after the formation of a new coalition government in Israel that included a number of ultra-right figures like Ben-Gvir. The world community, including the Arab nations, immediately condemned the Israeli provocation, and the Emirates postponed the first visit of the Prime Minister of Israel to the UAE. An urgent meeting of the UN Security Council was held, condemning the actions of Ben-Gvir and expressing concerns about the situation on the West Bank of the Jordan River. It was necessary to intensify collective efforts to resume the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis in order to implement the two-state formula for resolving the conflict.

The Quartet of international mediators (UN, EU, Russia, and the US) needs to revive its work to promote peace in the region. The US is not taking any strong measures against Israel's expansionist ambitions as it could negatively affect US plans to advance Arab-Israeli normalization launched under Trump. The Biden administration is trying to avoid criticizing its main Middle Eastern ally's openly subversive line in terms of implementing the principle of "two states for two peoples." Washington's recent diplomatic successes include the Negev format meetings, and the intention to organize a Negev forum at the level of foreign ministers was announced in March.
Although the US's plan to build bridges between Tel Aviv and the Arab states seems positive, it could be seen as an attempt to build a military-political bloc in the Middle East fitting its own needs and on a tough anti-Iranian basis. The settlement of the Palestinian problem is not among the US's priorities and may be sacrificed for the sake of promoting its own agenda in the region. The US forgets that the unresolved Palestinian-Israeli conflict is one of the key sources of destabilization in the Middle East, and the situation can escalate at any moment, similar to the bloody events of 2021. The Hamas group that controls Gaza adds fuel to the fire by unambiguously declaring that crossing "red lines" like the Israeli invasion of the Holy Places of Jerusalem is unacceptable. #IsraeliPalestinianConflict #TempleMount #AlAqsaMosque #WestBank #TwoStateSolution #UNSecurityCouncil #Quartet #NegevFormat #ArabIsraeliNormalization #MiddleEast #Hamas #Jerusalem #USForeignPolicy #InternationalMediators #PeaceProcess #Destabilization #ExpansionistAmbitions #RedLines#world_news #Politics #america #usa #nasa #israeil #palestini #war #wair #googlebard #bard #chatfpt_video
